Public Health Research Programme

Minimum award value - Dependent on proposal
Maximum award value - Dependent on proposal

Eligibility

Anyone, anywhere in the UK, who considers that they can carry out high-quality public health-related research, can submit a proposal. The Public Health Research programme considers applications from all sectors which are within the Public Health Research programme’s remit.

Description

The aim of the programme is to evaluate public health interventions: specifically, it provides new knowledge on the benefits, costs, acceptability and wider impacts of non-NHS interventions intended to improve the health of the public and reduce inequalities in health. Public health interventions, delivered outside the NHS, that seek to improve the health of the public, prevent disease or reduce inequalities in health will be considered. These interventions could include aspects of health protection.

Notes

Applicants can submit outline proposals at any time during the year, with three cut-off dates when applications will be considered by the Programme Advisory Board.

A timeline for the application process is available at http://www.phr.ac.uk/fundingopportunities/researcher_led.asp

BIA members can contact the BIA for additional information about specific schemes. Please call 020 7565 7191 and ask for Sophie Broster-James or Daniel Bridge.

Application Method

Outline proposals will be accepted on an ongoing basis. There are, however, cut-off deadlines for proposals to reach the PHR offices so they can be assessed. Applications received after the stated deadline will not be considered in the next assessment round and will be held over for consideration in a future cycle. Applicants that are successful at the PHR Research Funding Board will be invited to develop their outline proposals into full proposals for consideration at a subsequent Board meeting.

Applications are to be submitted using the online proposal form.
