<description><![CDATA[The Health Innovation Challenge Fund is a scheme of up to five years supported by up to 100 million contributed in equal measure by the Department of Health and the Wellcome Trust. <description><![CDATA[Eurostars Programme is a new Funding Programme for SME's. 

Eurostars is a programme enabling industries and institutes across Europe and beyond to collaborate in a bottom-up approach to developing and exploiting close-to-market technologies. 
<br><br>All businesses that fulfil the EU-adopted definition of an SME and are based in a Eurostars participating country are welcome to apply.

Furthermore, they have to invest 10% of turnover or 10% full time equivalent effort into research.

<title>TTOM (Technology Transfer in Optoelectronics and Microelectronics)</title>
<description><![CDATA[TTOM aims to improve technology transfer between the SME base and Scotland's Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in a range of high growth markets, associated with new technology development. The aim is to enable technology transfer projects, particularly with a cross-sectoral and inter-disciplinary focus TTOM Grants will be paid directly to eligible SME companies on a competitive basis, who will then contract with relevant research groups in higher education institutes to provide the assistance required. The maximum level of grant will be 5000, paid at a maximum rate of 75%, with the remaining 25% being cash or in-kind contributions from the client company. Successful applicants will be sent an offer letter, which will contain a standard agreement regarding the terms and conditions of the grant and ongoing monitoring requirements. <title>Project Grant from the CSO</title>
<description><![CDATA[CSO aims to secure lasting improvements to the health of the people in Scotland, and improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health services and healthcare in Scotland.
CSO commissions work in specific priority areas, supports research initiated by the research community in Scotland, and advises the Scottish Government Health Directorates on how research contributes to improvements in health and healthcare. 
CSO is headed by the Chief Scientist Professor Sir John Savill and in 2008-9 invested over 66 million in NHS related research.

Projects are assessed on the basis of scientific quality and their relevance to the health of the Scottish people (see Research priority areas). Projects must demonstrate 'health gain' and a potential to improve healthcare.

<title>Grant for Business Investment (GBI)</title>
<description><![CDATA[GBI (formerly known as Selective Finance for Investment in England or SFIE) makes discretionary grants available from Government (the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform - BERR) to support businesses with investment projects which will increase productivity, skills and employment. 

The grants are managed by the Regional Development Agencies in accordance with their Regional Economic Strategy. In the South East of England, the Business Grants team appraises grant applications between 10,000 and 2million. Those above 2million are referred to BERR for appraisal, if we believe there is a strong case for support.

GBI supports investment projects which require financial

<description><![CDATA[The aim of the programme is to evaluate public health interventions: specifically, it provides new knowledge on the benefits, costs, acceptability and wider impacts of non-NHS interventions intended to improve the health of the public and reduce inequalities in health. Public health interventions, delivered outside the NHS, that seek to improve the health of the public, prevent disease or reduce inequalities in health will be considered. These interventions could include aspects of health protection.<br><br>Anyone, anywhere in the UK, who considers that they can carry out high-quality public health-related research, can submit a proposal. The Public Health Research programme considers applications from all sectors which are within the Public Health Research programme's remit.

<description><![CDATA[R&amp;D Tax Relief is a Corporation Tax relief that may reduce your company or organisation's tax bill by more than your actual expenditure on qualifying R&amp;D costs.

Alternatively, if your company or organisation is small or medium-sized, and has incurred a loss, you may be able to choose to receive a tax credit instead, by cashing in the relevant tax loss to HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC) up to a limit based on PAYE and NIC paid during the year.

It is a government scheme that was introduced in order to encourage innovation and enterprise within the UK economy.
<br><br>In order to potentially claim this relief a company must have a systematic project which is seeking an overall advance in science and/ or technology and resolution of scientific and/ or technological uncertainty.  Please note that this project need not be successful.

<description><![CDATA[LINK supports collaborative research and development (R&amp;D) between business and academia by providing grants which allow these groups to access cutting-edge science and technology expertise whilst academics are provided with the opportunity to develop expertise within a commercial setting. 

Project aims must be pre-commercial, (i.e. leading only up to the development of a prototype on which a commercial development could be based.)
